About KTIC

The Kedah Tua International Conference will be taking place on May 21st and 22nd 2016 at the Park Avenue Hotel, Kedah, Malaysia. This conference will be held in conjunction with the first Festival Kedah Tua (FKT 2016) that runs concurrently from the May 19th to May 24th. The conference is organized by the Centre for Global Archaeological Research Malaysia, University Sains Malaysia, Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) the Department of National Heritage, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Kedah State Government, Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA) together with the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM).

Our focus will be on the importance of archaeology of Bujang Valley, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Malaysia, and to draw a comparison between all major civilisations during the 6th Century BCE - 12th Century. The main objectives of this conference is to highlight Kedah Tua (Old Kedah) and its significance in Southeast Asian, as well as global archaeology. 

29 international speakers and experts from 16 countries would be convening to discuss on 10 major topics, from iron smelting to the architecture, through various centuries and diversity of beliefs. This conference is definitely an event no to be missed by academician, students, history enthusiast as well as anyone who shared passion in civilizational studies and general archaeology.
